Good Evening - - - -Re-Group - - - Today Kay was told the mess she has is an abscess. She was told that it was the size of a golf ball and they were going to let the antibiotics take it course. Great News - - The doctor earlier in the day did push in the area of the incision and he was able to squeezed some of the infection out. This was after she had half of her staples (13 of them) removed. She was then told that if there had to be some cutting to clean the wound it would
be done with a local antiseptic and not with surgery in the OR.When I got there this afternoon she was just finishing up a meal. This consisted of Potato Soup, Ice Cream, Milk and a few other things. Cannot remember all right now. She was fairly chipper and doing OK. While I was there she had some visitors and when they left another couple came in to visit with her. Earlier in the day she had one other couple. During the switch of visitors she felt like she was wet and she noticed that she was leaking from the bandage covering the incision. She notified the nurse and she told that she would come back and change it after she got her shower/bath. A little bit later the nurse came back to give her the shower/bath. While this was taking place I, with the other couple, went to the cafeteria to grab a bite to eat. While we were talking in the cafeteria Kay called and told me that she was ready for visitors and we could come back. I told her she would have to wait for I just got another cup of coffee. We left a little bit after that and when we got to the room she was sitting up in the chair eating dinner. She had Potato Soup, again, but she liked it, Jell-o, a Pudding, Milk and Cranberry Juice. She did eat most of her soup and was starting on the pudding. After a little while longer we left. She was chipper, talking and feeling good but then she just had a shower/bath, was eating
and just had a "Happy Shot". Who wouldn't feel good.Once I got home I took care of some choirs around the house and came in to check messages on the computer. While I was doing this Kay called me and told me the surgeon was in and he has decided to operate on Kay tomorrow morning. He wants to open her up to remove the infection. He plans on keeping the wound open (?) while it heals. I do not know the time of the surgery and
if she will be back in the same room or not.Guy's please hold off on visiting or calling her at this time. I will try and send out a message tomorrow afternoon once I find out something. If not tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow evening for sure. We felt that we were so close to having this under control. Hopefully, this will get her on the road to recovery
a lot faster.Well, I better be going. I have to call the kids and mom on this. I really hate to do this for I do not want them to try and get down here before the surgery. She is in good hands and there is nothing they can
really do. Take care and have a great night - - - Ski's
