Good Evening - - - -Here is the latest on Kay and her adventures while staying at the Local "Bed & Shot". It seems like every time I go up there the nurses are giving her a shot or taking blood. They should know by now that this is not one of my more favorite things to see. I am proud of myself for not passing out and splitting my head open. The nurses could do
this while I am not there - - -Last night we were told that Kay would have to have surgery in the morning. Not wanting to be late I set the alarm for 5:30 so I could get up there before Kay went to surgery. Well, I did not need the alarm for I woke up at 4 and tossed and turned for an hours and finally got up. Had some coffee and got to the hospital in plenty of time. In fact in time for the nurses
to stick Kay and draw blood. The hospital wheeled her down at 8 and while prep her they blew-out, punctured, or lost the IV inputs and had to start a new one. God, I dreaded that for the last time it really caused her pain. After talking to them about the pain and how I wanted to hit the SOB that was sticking her when we first got there, the nurse told me they were going to get the "BEST" IV putter-inner they had in the prep area. CHICKEN ! ! ! Kay was hoping that they would do this when she was out during the surgery. The "BEST" came in and low and behold she had that thing in on the first
try. Thank you GOD! ! !The nurses rolled Kay into surgery around 12 and by 12:45 the doctor was briefing me. He told me the infection/abscess was in the skin and the fat and had not penetrated the stomach wall. He did clean out and removed the infection. The cut to do this was on the same cut the doctors did during Kay's initial operation. After the surgery the doctor did place a Wound Pump on the incision so that the wound would heal from the inside out. I was told that Kay would be in Recovery for about an hour so I want and grabbed a bite to eat and then went to Kay's room. About 30 to 45 minutes later she
showed up.I stayed with her for about and hour and then decided to leave for I had some running to do. She was still pretty well out of it from the surgery. When I got back this evening around 6 she was a little better and after her "Happy Shot" for pain she did perk up a little. She was able to get some ice to wet her whistle. We did ask the nurse if she could get something to eat and after checking with the doctor she was told she could eat anything she wanted. Problem was the only thing available was sandwiches for the kitchen was closed. She did not want anything that heavy and she was able to order some Jell-O
and Ice Cream.I left a little after 8 for visiting hours were over and when I left she was talking to my mother. She had just finished talking to Tim, Dawn and Chris. Guys, she is getting her voice back so beware. Earlier we received the impression that she would be in the hospital for another five days but if she gets her strength up and the wound starts healing she could get out sooner. This will depend on mainly the doctors and how Kay is progressing. I asked the doctor about her walking for this is what MDA wanted her to do and he said no problem now. He was contacting a Physical Therapist to show her how to get up and down. He told me that he was going to talk to a Nutritionist to get her on a high protein diet. I still believe that a lot of this is pulled muscles from the fall she took the first night at MDA. I guess they will get her straighten out to where it will not be so painful to get up and down in the next few days. Well, I better be going. Take care and have a great night. Hopefully we have completed this bumpy road now and there will be nothing more than smooth roads for Kay. Thank you all for yours messages with PRAYERS, KIND WORDS and THOUGHTS & CARDS. We both greatly appreciate it and want to hug
every one of our extended family for this. Take care - - - Ski's
