Many of you may have heard by now but while we were
at Fontana for Accent on Rounds, Judy suffered a moderate to severe
stroke that affected her speech and right side. We rushed her back to
Knoxville and to Parkwest Hospital. She made great improvement on
Saturday and even more improvement by Sunday morning. So much so that she
was discharged and we are now home (and she's been puttzing around, watering her
plants and checking her email). With this much progress in so short a time, we
are very, very hopeful for a rapid and complete recovery.
She still has some speech problems that will take some
therapy but the change from Friday is dramatic . . . from being only
able to say yes and no and "s - - - " when no other words would come to some
mispronounced words here and there. Her motor skills are well on the way to
normal but again will require physical therapy to maximize full
recovery. We feel very lucky and are most thankful at this point to be
where we are.
