3 months back I replaced my 2 yr. old Gill with the sealed Concorde RG-25XC. Also had to replaced the battery box and had repairs done to the motor mount due to acid spillage. Noy good! I follow Grumman Gang forum and they overwhelmingly recommended the Concorde sealed. Time will tell if I made a good choice. At least I'm not imagining of the sizzle of metal when I fly.

I had a couple of Gil flooded batteries fail prematurely, so went with the Concorde and have been pleased so far,  I use the BatteryMinder charger developed for the Concorde and leave it attached except when flying. It's an intelligent charger and keeps the battery at 100% without any danger of over charging.

The Aviation Consumer article found that in their testing that the Concorde battery was more robust, holding up well to abuse like overcharging, and actually improved its capacity as it went through charging cycles.  Some owners did have Concorde batteries fail in less than 2 years (around 22%) while Gill battery owners had a failure rate of 78% in less than 2 years.

Gill used to be the standard in wet cell batteries and those batteries still hold up well if you can stand replacing battery boxes every time one spills sulfuric acid.
