Hi Don, I use only sealed batteries (recombinant gas or "RG") because in my experience the performance is better in every way. I've RG batteries do not tolerate deep discharge as well, but I have had good luck even in this regard. RG batteries have lower internal resistance which means more cranking power, they last longer, and they never require you to clean or rebuild the battery box because they don't leak any acid. I'm highly unlikely to ever buy a wet battery of any kind based upon my positive experiences with RG and AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries. Best of luck, Chase Sent from my iPad I need to replace a Gill G-25S which is less than two years old. They have been discontinued and replaced with a new model Gill sealed battery. I checked various forums on the internet and found that the majority of owners think that the more expensive Concorde battery is actually cheaper in the long run because it lasts longer and may actually improve with age. The Aviation Consumer article found that in their testing that the Concorde battery was more robust, holding up well to abuse like overcharging, and actually improved its capacity as it went through charging cycles. Some owners did have Concorde batteries fail in less than 2 years (around 22%) while Gill battery owners had a failure rate of 78% in less than 2 years. Here is the same article as published in the Aviation Consumer with additional surveys attached. Gill used to be the standard in wet cell batteries and those batteries still hold up well if you can stand replacing battery boxes every time one spills sulfuric acid. What has your experience been with batteries? Don
