Mykitta, Alvin William
(Bill), 86, of Chattanooga Company. passed away
peacefully on Sunday, November 1,
at the East Ridge Life Care Center.
Bill lived most of his life in Nashville, but lived in
Chattanooga for
the last 12 years. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Richard G. and Elizabeth Mykitta
and his beloved wife
Sarah Yates Mykitta. For the last 26
years of his career he was the payroll supervisor for
the City of Nashville and
Davidson County. Prior to that, he owned
the Congress Inn and the Thompson Fruit Company.
Bill was the first
college graduate in his family. He loved dancing of all
sorts, especially
choreographed ballroom dancing, and flying his private
airplane. He was a 50-year member and former Worshipful
Master of Cumberland Lodge #8 of the Masons.
Bill enjoyed traveling and was an excellent golfer and
bridge player. He attended Chattanooga Primitive
Baptist
Church.
He is survived by his
son and daughter-in-law, Richard S.
and Leslie Mykitta, grandsons Alan Mykitta and fiancée
Kim Allen, and Kyle and wife
Dianella Mykitta, all of Los Angeles, California;
granddaughter Mandy Mykitta
of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; stepdaughters Sylvia Silva
and Janie Slade of
Murfreesboro and Shelley Blaylock of Nashville; and
dance partner/companion
Jacque Benderman of Chattanooga.
Visitation will be
held from 10:00-12:00 Saturday, November
8, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. at
Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton
Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204.
Elder Andrew Huffman will officiate. The interment will
follow at Woodlawn
Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to Chattanooga Primitive
Baptist Church, 811 Runyan
Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37405.
