The good news on Lila did not last long.
After we got her out of ICU Wednesday evening, we had hoped things would improve. Not to be. She could not keep anything in her stomach, not even water. I got with one of her doctors yesterday (Saturday) afternoon, trying to get them to agree to some sort of food through the vains. They did not agree, feared giving her another blood infection. They talked to Gastro, and decided to run a tube through Lila's nose, into her stomach and see what came out. They also ordered another CT scan on her stomach. The tube produced about a quart of whatever was in her stomach. The first CT scan had mixed results. One doctor thought he saw a blockage, the other did not see it. Over last night, they did another set of CT scans. Lila called me from the hospital at 8:30 this morning, the only thing I could understand was she wanted me at the hospital now. When I got there, she told me that found a blockage and were about ready to do surgery. I talked to the doctor, he said that she was completely blocked, they think in the small intestine. She has to have surgery, will move her back to ICU and start getting her ready for surgery by noon or 1:00 today. We go to ICU, they started pumping more liquids into her, more platelets, etc. About noon, the doctor came in the room and said he thought Lila's condition was improving so they were going to hold off on the surgery for a "while". We are still in the "while". I can't see any improvement in Lila's condition. I hope herknows something that I don't know. Lila is so weak she can not move her legs or turn over in bed without help. Part of this may be because she has not ate anything for 2 or 3 weeks. She is so full of excess water and they are giving her more, her kidneys can not handle at the fluids they are pushing into her. Her white blood count is "0". Her platelets are very low. The white blood cells fight infection and promoted healing. She has none. Platelets stop bleeding, she is very low on platelets. Folks, we need a miracle and we need one quickly. PRAY-PRAY-PRAY. Bob |
