Shaving the way to Conquer Kid's Cancer
Bob & Carol Heiser Hi Gene &
Jean, I'm taking this
method of trying to say "WOW"
after receiving all the get well wishes from so many
wonderful people. Thank You
Everybody. I am still weak
but progressing much better. My problem is I have such
weird things that I come up with. A year ago I was
diagnosed with "Temporal Arteritis" which is a branch of
Giant Cell Arteritis. With steroid therapy, I got better
and went off the steroids. About three months ago I started
having some symptoms and my specialist put me back on a low
dose Prednisone 5 mg daily. I was still having the symptoms
and some were getting worse, so on the next visit I was
going to talk about raising the Prednisone and that's when
the fever started. I was on antibiotics from May 9, to May
13 with very little change when I got my "Hospitalist" to
call in a Pulmonary doctor. He came in Friday afternoon,
visited with me and we discussed the Giant Cell Arteritis
and the possibilities it might be a factor. He went and
checked my X-rays and CT scan came back and told me I didn't
have a normal Pneumonia and started me on high dose IV
steroid (Solu medrol) and I began to get better. He said I
had an Atypical Pneumonia called "Cryptogenic Organizing
Pneumonitis" (COP) with an incidence of less than 0.01% of
the population. They also feel that it is more prevalent
than what is being reported. Yu can Google either COP or
BOOP for information on this subject. Sorry to be so
windy and you don't have to put all this in but it just
shows that at our Maturity, we have to pay attention to our
body signs. Again thanks
to everybody for your Prayers and thoughts and STAY WELL. Bill Buck |
