More and more of you are arriving to the warm weather and
friendship of the Texas Rio Grande Valley. As I write this at 10:00 PM on
Sunday night it is 70 degrees outside.
The Baldwins, Fishers, Gerdes,
Heinys, Kurczewskis, Nelsons and
Sherrills all have their Round Dance programs running. The Gloodts
will start their program the first week in January. So you see we have a
great group of cuers.
A great crowd enjoyed Ski's Christmas Party dance last
night. I took several pictures and have posted them on my webshot site at
Nina Munn, one of our Canadian Round Dance friends, won the
drawing for the Christmas Crystal Christmas Ornaments. The
Ski's brought these back from Germany and have graciously donated them to
raise money for our St. Baldricks Childhood Cancer Event.
Our Texas Rio Grande Valley St. Baldricks event is on line and
here is how you get to it:
1. Go to www.StBaldricks.org
2. Click on Find an Event 3. Change the date to 2009 4. Type in Pharr, TX 5. Click on Texas Trails RV Resort. 6. Current supporters are listed under the "Our
Supporters" tab.
A. Bernie and
Red are donating the proceeds from their show on February 4, 2009 to St.
Baldricks,
B. Walmart
has pledged a $6,000 grant,
C. Wilder
Resorts is donating the use of the Texas Trails hall for both the Bernie and Red
Show and our St. Baldricks Head Shaving Event. They have also donated one
months free rent good for any of their seven RV parks in the area,
D. HEB three
$100 gift cards and plan to give an item for auction or raffle, and
E. Data Copy is doing our
printing free of charge.
Be sure to let these sponsors know we appreciate their support.
7. When you click on Event Participants you will see the name of
those who have volunteered to have their heads shaved. If you click on the
name you will see the participants page that includes their picture and other
information.
Check the Special Events section of our Rio Grande Valley Round Dance Site
http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/event_info?EventKey=2009-1581#
for more information about the St Baldricks Event.
I hope each of you will volunteer to support this event by donating
funds, shaving your head or volunteer to help with the event. Remember our
purpose is to raise awareness and funds for Childhood Cancer Research.
Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas
Wayne and (Pat) Chapman
