Don:

John Morgan and his wife, in conjunction with the Brady airport put on this fly-in every year on Armed Forces Day (see forward below).  This year that falls on May 20.  Dr Morgan approached me yesterday while I was at the Brady Airport (still)  working on my Velocity.  They want to not only invite our EAA Chapter and Ducote residents, they are also interested in having Young Eagles flights.  Mostly Brady boy scouts.  There is no EAA Chapter in Brady.   The closest EAA Chapters are in Brownwood (also invited) and San Angelo.  This is also the fly-in that Johnny got his P-51 ride.  I told Dr Morgan and his wife that you were the Young Eagles coordinator/officer for our Chapter, and that I would contact you.  Dr Morgan estimated 10-14 Young Eagles.  The Morgans sponsor/run the Morgan Military Aviation Museum here in Brady.  They can be reached at

325-456-6726
325-456-6710

Hopefully there is a good showing from both EAA Chapter 493 and Ducote for the fly-in.  All are invited, by car or airplane.  I think last year they had an antique car show in conjunction with the fly-in.

Don, would you please contact the Morgans about their Young Eagles query?

Thanks

Don Smucker

Dear Friends,

The 7th Annual Armed Forces Weekend Celebration & Fly-In is coming Soon!  We are getting ready and hope you will join us!

We will kick off Friday Night on the Square when our reenactors from the Camp Howze Military Vehicle Preservation Association convoy to the Square to show off their beautifully restored vehicles.

On Saturday morning, the Fly-In starts at 9 AM and for the seventh year in a row admission and parking are free to our visitors!  We are putting together a great lineup of warbirds including "Miss Connie" - the P-39 Airacobra from the Centex Wing of the CAF.  We hope to have lots of general aviation pilots like this beautiful Cub from last year fly in and to make this easier, Curtis Field is offering a fuel discount for the day! Our first 50 pilots to fly in will be treated to breakfast tacos on the tarmac! Of course, the BIG reason for the day is to honor our veterans & active duty military during our noon ceremony.  Enjoy the museum exhibit and art gallery and vendors. We are planning fun for the kids and some fun surprises.  Then enjoy a delicious $7 Hamburger Lunch that benefits the museum and the Boy Scouts.  More fun comes in the evening with the Hangar Dinner Dance featuring a wonderful homestyle meal from Aunt Trudi at 7 PM followed by the wonderful music from Ted Conerley and Sentimental Journey Orchestra.  Tickets are $30 and available on our website www.morganmilitaryaviationmuseum.com.  Please Like us on Facebook for more updates or call 325.456.6726 with questions.

We hope to see you at Curtis Field in Brady, Texas for lots of PLANE FUN!
