All,
Just some details about our fly in chapter meeting this coming Saturday, February 20, 2016.
RSVP: The park does not stock groceries for surprise guests so we sure would like to know in advance if you're coming. If you have called or e-mailed me, don't worry I have your name and guest count.
ARRIVAL: Airport identifier 3T9 please monitor 122.9 and announce your intentions in the blind. Available runways are 08/26. Bring your own tie-downs. Please plan to arrive at about 9:30 a.m. and we'll plan to eat around 10:00 a.m. If you arrive late and you want a ride to the bunkhouse, you might want to make a pass or two over the park headquarters, about 3/4 mile due west of the airstrip, to let park personnel know you're there.
PARK FEES for attendees will be the same this year as last year. Park entry fees will be waived, however the park is not authorized to waive fees for rides from the airstrip to the bunkhouse. Last year voluntary breakfast contributions covered the cost of breakfast supplies and rides. Total anticipated cost of all rides between the airstrip and park headquarters will be about $50. You're not required to accept a ride; the bunkhouse is within walking distance from the airstrip.
BREAKFAST: David and Vi Dotter will prepare breakfast similar to last year, so come hungry. As most of you know, we never charge a fee for breakfast, but we do place a coffee can kitty out for donations to cover the cost of breakfast supplies. Any overages contributed to the breakfast kitty will be used to cover airstrip ride fees and then any excess will go into the chapter fund as donations for chapter expenses.
ATTRACTIONS: The tour guide for drive tours has retired, so no drive tour will be offered this year. There are several fun park exhibits within walking distance from the bunkhouse if any wish to do a little hiking.
For those who may not know, there is a lot to see from a light aircraft. If you wish to take a flying tour of the Big Bend, let's talk about things to see, border rules, and mountain flying safety at breakfast.
PLEASE feel free to contact me for additional information, and please come join us and bring a friend or two.
Best regards,
Chase Snodgrass
