Dear Friends,

Armed Forces Weekend, May 15-16th, is coming soon!  Lots of work is going into providing lots of PLANE FUN in Brady and at Curtis Field (BBD).  We hope you will be able to join us!

We are looking forward to watching lots of Warbirds in the air and on the tarmac.  The CAF plans to be offering rides in the BT-15, SNJ Texan, and Navion.  What a great Mother's Day, Father's Day, or graduation gift to ride in one of these great birds!  We are also welcoming back the T34 and a British Reliant for the first time.  The P-51 Pecos Bill plans to be here for the morning as well.  The C-47 Texas Zephyr will be offering tours, and a special guest will be the homecoming of the PT-17 "476" who spent her war years at Curtis Field training pilots.  She has quite a story.  There's more!  Come see!

Attention pilots!!!  Fuel will be available at 50 cents above cost!  We are also planning some special welcome gifts for all of our pilots who fly in.  Add to that a $7 hamburger lunch that benefits the Boy Scouts and Morgan Military Aviation Museum and lots of things to see and do with free admission.

Speaking of things to do!  We hope many of you will be able to join us Friday night from 5-7 PM for Friday Night on the Square when we remember the days when the boys from Curtis Field would get leave and come to town.  The Camp Howze MVPA plans to convoy their vehicles to the square so you can get an early first look, and we are inviting antique cars to join us.  You will have time to shop the stores open late on the square, grab some ice cream at our new ice cream shop, eat some good Italian food, visit The Barrel House, see a photo exhibit, and I'm hearing there may be live swing music. Then you can catch a movie at the restored 1928 Palace Theater.  It's a great way to kick off the weekend!

Then Saturday morning at 9 the gates open for the Fly-In at Curtis Field.  It's always fun to see what flies in or be the one flying in!  At 10 and 1, the Camp Howze MVPA plans weapons and vehicle demonstrations.  These guys are the real deal! Their camp is great!  At noon, join us as we honor our active duty military and veterans with the Joint Services Honor Guard from Goodfellow AFB while we enjoy a Heritage Flyover.  Then enjoy a delicious grilled burger cooked up and benefitting the Boy Scouts and the museum.  Enjoy the museum exhibit & art gallery, and visit our vendors and exhibitors.

But the fun isn't over yet.  At 7PM, Aunt Trudi will have her delicious roast beef dinner with all the fixins (and yes, her wonderful banana pudding) ready before Sentimental Journey Orchestra strikes up the band for the best swing music you will ever hear.  Dance, watch the dancers, and grab some great photo ops with the beautiful C-47 Texas Zephyr against the sunset.  Don't forget we now have those wonderful Port-A-Cool units to keep the hangar comfortable while we enjoy the evening.  Tickets for the dinner/dance are still just $30 and available through the website www.morganmilitaryaviationmuseum.com or by sending your check to Morgan Military Aviation Museum, P.O. Box 1031, Brady, TX  76825.  Please just let us know whether to mail your tickets or hold them with your name at WILL CALL.

Where to stay in Brady?  Best Western 325.597.3997  Ask for the Fly-In Rate.  Holiday Inn Express 325.597.1800 I haven't been able to catch the manager yet, but ask for a Fly-In Rate, and I bet you will get one.  For those of you who want to enjoy our big bright stars deep in the Heart of Texas, remember that camping is available on the airport and restrooms with showers are onsite.

We are grateful for our many wonderful sponsors who help us provide this day to our visitors and who advertise in our program.  Please watch for their names in our program, on Facebook, on our website, and on our Sponsor's wall in the hangar.  Please take time to thank them and patronize them!
