Years ago as a new A&P I was involved in doing quite a few annuals and progressive inspections. The linked article (below) left me with a question about some of them. Memories from that far back (>30 years ago) may not be entirely accurate or complete, but I don't remember doing or seeing the AI check the particular point of failure mentioned in the linked article. I remember doing checks of other closely related items, but not where this failure showed up. Someone having missed that failure potential combined with the pilot error in fuel control cost the pilot in this article his life. I'll certainly pay attention to that item when doing my condition inspections in the future. I'll also pay preflight attention to it if/when I fly an older aircraft. http://www.aopa.org/Pilot-Resources/Safety-and-Technique/Accident-Analysis/Accident-Statistics/ePilot-Reports/Almost-correct?WT.mc_id=150403epilot&WT.mc_sect=sap Larry
