First, to those who can't make it, please take just a moment and pass this message to your flying friends. Each attending pilot contributes to keep Ranger flying. Every aircraft counts.

To those who are planning to fly in, thank you! Below you'll find fly-in information. Please review and forward to your flying friends.

Old School Fly-In & Airshow No.8

Ranger Airfield - Ranger, TX

October 3-5, 2014

I've been asked when is the best time to arrive Friday. If I was to fly in, I would make plans to arrive after 3:00. Hamburgers will be grilled around 5:30. Fly-in's should arrive before 6:30. The field will be CLOSED from 6:30p-7:00p Friday evening. Sunset is 7:16 so there will be a short window to arrive or depart after the show. If you miss the burgers at 5:30 the grill will be available after the show. I'll have a number of beers and liquor for friends. If we haven't met, all you need to do is introduce yourself and you'll be welcome to partake - the more friends the better. A fire pit will be keeping us warm until the last night owl calls it a night.

If you're planning to camp, showers will be available Saturday morning from 7:00-9:00 in the Ranger College gym (right next to the airfield). If you're staying at a hotel, please let me know when you arrive and I'll line you up with transportation.

There will be a number of items available for breakfast Saturday & Sunday morning.

Saturday's lunch will be served around 11:30 - brisket slow-smoked with pecan.

The field will be CLOSED Saturday at 1:00p and reopen after the show. The show is usually about an hour.

For those planning to stay Saturday night the showers and transportation will be the same as Friday night. Some will be going to Mary's Café in Strawn that evening. If you'd like to go, talk to me about a ride. The fire will be burning Saturday evening for those who've already had enough beef for the weekend.

Traffic is SEE and AVOID. You might hear someone offering guidance over radio but don't plan for that. Plan to use SEE and AVOID.

Go arounds (sometimes known as flybys) are not discouraged so long as the pattern is flown and the pass isn't downwind. Runway 1 and 19 are standard (left) pattern. Pattern altitude is 1000 ft. agl.

Main things to remember:

Field closed Friday 6:30p-7:00p

Field closed Saturday 1:00p to approximately 2:00p

Field elevation 1470 ft.

Runway 1-19 3400 x 75 ft.

CTAF 122.9 - If you have a radio please announce. Be looking for NORDO aircraft.

Thanks for the help!
