Dear Chapter 493,
A majority of members have indicated by email and by phone that they are willing to pay half or all of the $350 for a Memorial bronze plaque for Leon York, even though this was not a choice on the ballot. The cost amounts to $10 per member based on 35 members and I believe we have more than that on the latest roster.  The cut off date for this year is April 21, 2014 to have Leon's plaque ready for Airventure in July.

I suggest West Texas Fly Boy as the tag line below Leon's name as he chose this for his email address.  I am open to other suggestions and please send me anything that you would like to see included in the 500 word memorial page. If you have a picture that should be considered for the memorial page please send it to me and I will post three for everyone to vote on.  I really need to see again what Gerry Hatch and Bill Yeates have in possible pictures to use on this memorial to Leon.  If anyone wants to submit a sample biography in full or part of the 500 word biography please send those to me and I will see which parts Leon's family would like included in the biography.

Memorial Wall Guidelines

Dedicated To Those Who Have Loved And Supported Aviation

Memorial Wall
  1. Recognition is reserved solely for individuals who are deceased. Surviving family and friends may make contributions in someone's memory, or individuals may reserve their own place on the Memorial Wall.
  2. Inscriptions are cast onto bronze plaques. New plaques are installed annually during AirVenture presenting all inductees whose names were submitted between April 1 of the previous year and April 21 of the current year.

  3. EAA additionally offers to maintain in the annual Memorial Wall Album a one-page biography (500 words max. plus photo) submitted on behalf of the inductee.

  4. A donation of $350 or more is required. Pre-existing gifts to EAA do not qualify for Memorial Wall recognition.
