Thanks Gerry.  I don’t think that 30 minutes is enough time to do an adequate brief, etc.  I would suggest getting together at Ducote at 1 or 1:30.  Judy is going to the graveside ceremony, and will pick me up at Mathis after the fly over for a quick visit to Leon’s home.  We will have room for 4 or 5 others in her van if anyone else would like to go.

We need for someone to call the tower chief and explain what we are going to do.  We need to go as a flight of XX, with lead talking to the tower.  Everyone else will monitor tower and squawk standby.

Probably should put the slowest planes first.  Everyone can taxi to the end of the runway at Ducote in reverse flight order.

Nancy, what time would you like us overhead?

All,

The missing man formation would be a very nice fitting tribute. However, I agree strongly with Joe. Formation flying is nothing to be taken lightly and certainly not by pilots that are not current in such flights. The missing man pull up could be done from the trail "Formation" without loosing much if any of it's symbology.  Also, with the time available to practice, a formation other then "In-Trail" would be foolhardy.  We will be over densely populated areas at low altitude.  When in Doubt, Don't.

Norm, you are welcome to ride with me.

I'm concerned about trying to put a formation flight together in the time available.  I would prefer to fly in trail unless we could put an experienced formation pilot in each plane.

The lead plane could still pull up and turn west.

Also, there may well be others that don't have wings that would like to ride along.  Apparently there is not going to be much of a ground ceremony, so what better way to pay tribute?  Plus the family even suggested this as an option.

If anyone is interested in flying, or wants a ride, please sing out.   I suggest all flyers plan on being on the ground at Ducote air park as a convienent meeting place, no later than 2:30 pm on Thursday.   Weather is forecast to be bright and clear, at least as of now.
