Subject: Update on Joe.

Hi Wayne & Gloria,  Would you please send this update on Joe to the Alamo Paradise website,  Thank you for doing this for me.

Update on Joe.

Joe has had another week of dialysis every Mon. Wed. & Fri. He is feeling better

all the time after his treatment.

Tuesday, he had an appointment with his heart Doctor. She ask him a lot of

questions. He has had no shortness of breathe or pain of any kind, so she said,

sounds like you are doing real good,  she is just going to leave him on the heart

medication, this winter while we are in Texas, then in May, after we get home,

he has an appointment to have an Echogram of his heart.  So that was good news.

Thursday, Dec. 1st, at 12:30, he had the surgery on his arm, putting the fistula in

his vein, which will be his permanent dialysis port.  It went really well, the Dr. said

he had a perfect vein for it.  He didn’t even have any pain at all after surgery, even

when it started coming too.  They put his arm in a sling until the numbness was

gone, which they said it might be normal by noon Friday.  So it went really great

and never had any pain at all.  It will be 8 weeks, before they can use that port,

it takes that long to heal. So he cannot lift over 5 #’s with that arm until after it is

healed up good. So in other words, baby that arm for 2 months.

The Doctor told us it went so well, that he wants to check it next Thurs. then we

could leave for Texas.  So, we are planning on leaving next Sat. Dec. 10th.

So we will leave next Sat. morning, and we always drive a long day the 1st day,

we like to get past Oklahoma City, that is half way for us. Then we will get to our

daughters by Austin on Sunday, around 4 or 5:00.  Joe will have an appointment

for a dialysis treatment in Bastrop on Monday.  They just opened up a dialysis

center there, which will work out great, that is only about 15 miles from Lori’s.

That will be a lot better than going into Austin.

Then we will leave Lori’s on Tuesday, and get to our park hopefully in the middle

of the afternoon.  He will have Tues. & Wed. and then start his dialysis again on

Thurs.  in McAllen.  Down there he will be taking dialysis treatments on Tues. Thurs.

and Sat.

So now, I have a lot of packing to do.  I haven’t done much, because I didn’t know

how soon we would be able to go.  I hope this week isn’t to bad weather here, we

are suppose to get snow tomorrow, then be nice a couple of days, then maybe snow

again the middle of the week.  So I am hoping maybe it will change and wait until

next week after we leave.

We have been dancing every Tues. & Thurs. night, like we always do.  Joe got out of

the hospital on Thurs. night, at 5:30, then we ate, then went to the dance.  He

didn’t do any dancing with his arm in a sling, but at least we got to see people

and visit.

Thanks again for all your prayers, phone calls, and cards.  Those prayers really work,

because Joe has just done really great ever since all this started. Once they got all

that fluid out of his body he has had no pain at all, which is remarkable, even

after the surgery on his arm.

We are sure getting excited to get down to Texas, to see all of our Alamo Paradise

family, who are such wonderful friends.

Bye for now and we will see you soon in Texas.  Clara
