Received the following from Bob & Kay Ski...
============================================
This morning we talked to
Judy while she was in the room with Floyd. His
voice was strong and he
was in good spirits. The doctors did have him
walking this morning. As
you can tell he will have to slow down and I feel
sorry for Judy having to
do this.
It does look like their
trip to the Valley will be delayed somewhat for Floyd
has a follow-up sometime
in the middle of January. I am sure that they are
looking forward to that in
Minnesota during the coldest time of the year. I
received the impression
that they would be going to the Valley after that if
all goes well.
Not to much more to report
so I guess I will go. Take care and have a great
season in the Valley. We
are hoping to get down there sometime to see some
of the dancers. Take

Today is Tuesday, 7 December
Hello,
Surprisingly, we have been
told that the patient can go home today. A surgical
nurse came and removed his blood drain tube within the
last hour. She said they never send someone home if that
is still needed. The incision is about 8 - 10 inches
long, but looks good. He will be sent home with some pain
medication for night and/or as needed.
So the plan is that I will
take the 1:00 shuttle back to the hotel to get the car and
drive up to the main circle in front. They will wheel
chair him down and someone will push the cart of
belongings. I watched that happen yesterday while
waiting for the shuttle. By then the snow should be over,
so we are watching that also.
We appreciate all the good
care here at Mayo. The people have all been great.
We also appreciate all of
you friends and family and your concerns.
THANK YOU!
Judy and Floyd

Hello on Sunday,
Well, Floyd had his
surgery this afternoon and it went well the neurosurgeon
told me at 2:20 today. Surgery was about 4 hours. I
have been here since about noon and haven't seen him
yet. They said his blood pressure is staying high, so
he needs to stay in the recovery room where they have
the right equipment. The nurse who called from there is
asking if I can go see him there or not. She will call
back. His surgeon stopped in just after the nurse
called and said he would go see him there.
I have a Holiday Inn
Express with shuttle a couple of blocks away for
tonight, and I'll decide about tomorrow.
The kids have been
checking in and asking, and only 1 visitor is allowed
for the patient. That's not just "one at a time" - -
but "just one. period."
Thanks for your good
wishes.
Judy

Hello,
Late Friday afternoon
while finishing the outdoor lights, Floyd over reached
the stepladder and fell over the short brick wall in
front of the house into the stones and bushes. He
got himself up and in before I realized it. He was
sort of dazed, not very scratched up, but his neck
hurt a lot. He did not want to go to ER that night
and the dazed thing improved but neck hurt. He slept
(not well) in the recliner.
We went to ER here at
7 Sat. morning, knowing there was no Xray person
overnight. We were there from 7 to 11:00, and Xrays
showed fractured vertabrates 1,2, and 3. They lined
him up for a neurosurgeon at St. Mary's (Mayo) in
Rochester and was taken by local ambulance.
I did not go
yesterday, and he was in tests all day. I tried to
call a few times and he was always out of his room.
Nurses would be kind and tell me some things. I
asked about going and staying over in his room, but
that's not allowed now because of covid. About 9:00
last night I got more information and got to talk to
him. He will have surgery this morning as expected.
He was told #'s 1 and 3 will be easy, but #2 will need
a rod put in. I was going to drive really early (97
miles, mapquest says), but he said just wait and get
there about noon and he might be out of surgery.
Time was not for sure known yet. So I will do that
and take an overnight bag. Someone suggested a
Ronald McDonald sort of thing, so I'll ask when I get
there about a close place to stay. Otherwise, as you
all know, we are very experienced drivers! He's very
pleased with the expert doctor there, and he's glad
this will get done today. Sounded like quite good
spirits considering all.
Rosanne, we are quite
sure your visit on Monday 13 will still work.
I will update this
afternoon.
Thanks,
Judy
