Hi,
Please
limit phone calls as he has difficulty answering.
He really loves to get mail.
You can continue to use the current
address as we will pick it up each day. If
dad
gets
to go to assisted living, it will be a new address
which we will send out at that time.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and

and
the pastor.

Hello
- - -
Normally
I would start out Good Morning but there is nothing
good about today. We are so sorry to hear
about
Keith. I know how devastating that "C" word can be.
You all are in our prayers and thoughts.
Now
I have a few questions for you.
Can
I send your message out to the Dancers and the Pharr
South Park residences. If so I would
need
an address for those that would want to send him a
card. Keith was very well Loved & Respected"
in
both communities.
Does
Keith still have his phone? We tried calling and we
received a different message and was wondering.
if
you want I will tell everyone that the family would
like to limit phone calls. I am sure that the
pastor at
Pharr
South, Garland Hudson would want to talk to him.
Well,
I better be going. I wanted to get this to you as
soon as possible so I could get this out to friends
from
the
Valley. Please let us know if Keith is accepting
phone calls and give him our love.

all are in our thoughts and prayers - - - Ski's

Vance's dad, Keith
Friends,
wanted to catch you up on what’s going on with our
lives. We got back Thursday from our
getaway
trip to the Texas Hill Country. We had a
wonderful and relaxing time. However, Friday
morning,
Keith
called to say he was in pain and couldn’t get up.
We called Skyline security and they called an
ambulance
to take him to Penrose’s ER. Vance and Gary
(Gary, Vance’s brother, had been here while
we
were gone) went to the hospital to be with Keith
when he got there. ER ran initial bloodwork and
x-rays
to see what was going on. They decided to keep
him in the hospital and get an MRI. The MRI
showed
something
on his spine; they decided to do a CAT Scan to
determine exactly what they were seeing. Last
night
the doctor called and informed us that Keith has
bone cancer up and down his spine. Some of it is
pinching
his nerves and causing the pain. She will start
him on radiation hoping to shrink the ones that
are
pinching
his nerves. Hopefully, this will relieve him of
the pain and give him some quality of life. This
cancer
is inoperable and she has given Keith 3-5 months.
Bone cancer is terribly painful and pain
management may
not always work. He will not be going back to
independent living at Brookdale. He will be in
the hospital for a
while to get the radiation treatments and then
released back to Skyline’s Skilled Nursing and
Rehab. If he does
well
sitting up and walking without pain, then he’ll be
put into assisted living. If however, he cannot
walk and sit
because
of the pain, he will remain in skilled nursing and
later hospice. He took the news pretty well; said
he’d
be seeing Billie (Vance’s mom) soon. Tomorrow is
his first radiation treatment and dialysis. Hard
day. We’d
appreciate
your prayers for him and for us – we are trying to
coordinate all this; take care of putting his
affairs in
order,
etc. We know he has had a GOOD life that most
people never experience, so we mainly just don’t
want
the
end to be painful.
