It
is with very mixed emotions that we are sending out this
message. As many of you know, in the past few days our world has
been in turmoil with everything that has been going on. It
started with our problems trying to fill hall time that we lost
last year. These time would add to the three workshops that we
currently have, Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Then it
was the disappointment of not being able to have the New Year’s
Eve Round Dance. At this time, we still do not know if we have
been granted or denied the use of the Edinburg facility that we
have been checking into. We are not sure how Edinburg will
accept the way we do our program. Edinburg was wanting to do the
Round Dance Program the same way as Pharr Recreation proposed. I
have put my foot down, and Kay agrees, that she is not going to
work for the city at $12.00 per hour and have the dancers
signing up for classes, on a monthly basis, through Parks and
Recreation.
Also,
as many of you know, we have had the house “For Sale” for the
past two plus years. In the last week we have had two serious
offers on the house. One was with VA loan, taking a good 40 plus
days to close, and not knowing for sure if the contract would be
acceptable to both parties, and the other was a cash deal with a
closing date as soon as possible. After some serious thought we
decided to take the cash deal. An earnest money deposit has been
made and we are looking at the possibility of closing either
today, Tuesday or tomorrow morning, Wednesday, or as soon as the
balance is wired to the attorney. We have been busy packing last
minute things and loading the vehicles.
At
the present time we do not know what is going to be happening in
our future. We have been checking on places to rent for at
least two months, starting later this month. We are still
waiting for the “twirp” from Edinburg Parks & Recreation to
contact us about our request to use their facility.
With
Kay having another bout of Shingles and the doctor telling her
to cool her heels we are canceling our sessions for the rest of
this month. Our plans right now are to restart our program the 1st
Saturday of January. Not trying to be selfish, we are now
planning to spend Christmas with all our kids (and our
4-year-old granddaughter) for the first time in over 30 years.
There is also the possibility that we may drive up to Indiana,
outside Chicago, and surprise Bob’s mother during the Holidays.
Of course this will only happen with weather permitting.
After
25 years here in the Rio Grande Valley, with some of the most
wonderful people we could meet, we are sincerely hoping that
things will work out for us, in the next couple of weeks, and we
can once again be back to doing what we love with those that
mean so much to us. In the mean time we want to wish everyone a
Very Merry Christmas and a Safe & Healthy New Year. We will
miss you on Christmas Eve and some of you on New Year’s Eve but
not all for we will be working with Randy doing Rounds at his
New Year’s Eve at Pharr South. Since we are not sponsoring a New
Year’s Eve Dance, and if you have not already made plans, we
would love to have you share New Year’s with us at Randy’s New
Year’s Eve Dance at Pharr South where Kay will be doing Rounds
even though you might not dance Advance or Challenge Squares.
Come join us for the Rounds. Everyone is welcomed and we will
still be there to party. If not we will see you on Saturday the
2nd of January.

Update:
Things are moving too fast right now. Since typing this letter
earlier and getting ready to send it out the Attorney called and
moved the closing to this afternoon. We are staying in the
house, not home, tonight and will be leaving in the morning for
home. We are still waiting for Edinburg to call us on the use of
the hall facilities. I just called and talked to the Center in
Edinburg and they are to call me in the morning. Wish us LUCK -
