Good Evening One & All - - - -
It has been a long day for US, actually ME for all Kay was doing was driving me crazy with her driving from the passenger seat. We were up by 5 this morning and were on the road to
MD Anderson for tests and a doctors appointment.
Evidently Kay did study a little harder this time for she passed all her test. The first one was the testing of the kidneys with a dye. This was or is called a "Loopagram". This was OK for the kidneys are working fine. The lab also did the x-ray that included the kidneys and the new tubes coming from the kidneys. Everything came out OK which I already knew for Kay has not had any problems passing liquids, lots of leaks learning all these procedures on catching or controlling the flow of the liquids. She is still having problems the other way, but the prune
juice is working ! ! ! !
Blood work came out OK and it was in the normal range today. When Kay left the MD it was low, around 9.3 and it should of been higher, but today it was 12.5 which was in the middle of the range it was suppose to be in. Then it was wait for the doctor and his reports. After visits with the Nurse and Assistant PA we finally saw the doctor. He was surprised to see Kay in the shape she was in. He anticipated seeing her hunched over in a wheel chair with everything she has been through. Surprising what make-up can do and sleeping when not telling me how to drive. Anyway, he gave us the results of the previous test and then told us about the lymph nodes. During the operation the doctor removed 19 of them from the pelvic area and all of them came back "Cancer Free". Any of the tissue that was removed from around the bladder also came back "Cancer Free". The only cancer that did show up was in the bladder, and we already knew that. There was no cancer anywhere except for in the bladder and that was removed. Like Kay has been telling everyone she talks to - - "I am Cancer Free" The doctor did tell us that the incision was looking good and we did not have to keep it bandaged. We might still do this until we see the valley surgeon next week. He also told Kay to "listen to her body" in regards to her activities. The doctor did remove any and all restrictions from Kay. She can now drive from behind the
steering wheel.
During Kay's surgery to clean the infection we were warned about her getting a hernia. We asked the doctor about this and he warned about lifting heavy objects. He told her if she was going to lift a heavy suitcase to wear a weigh lifters belt. The outside incision will heal in 12 weeks but it could take up to a year for the incisions to heal on the inside. People will after 6 to 8 months not think of the surgery and try and lift something and that is when they get into trouble. He just said to wear the belt, which I plan on getting at Wal-Mart right after I finish this message. No use slowing her down now. I though about going to a "Sex Shop" and getting a Corset and cinching that up with my foot in her back but Kay did not like that idea. I really do not know if it was the Corset or the Sex Shop, but I really do not know where I can get a corset. I do not think Penny's or Macy's or like stores carry them. Oh, this should work for the vacuuming, the weight lifters belt. Anyway, Kay is in Seventh Heaven right now. At times with all the problems we have had since the surgery, and we had our share, she wondered if It was really worth it. There is no doubt in her mind now that it was worth it and she is on Cloud 9. She was fussing at me on the way home and I feel for some of you now - - - She was complaining that some of the dancers that are still here are having it to EASY. She is about to change this with a vengeance. She is planning on having a dance this Saturday Night. Dust off and polish those dancing shoes for Kay is back and not listening to any excuses. Please watch the Bob Heiser's Reflector for more information on the
dance. You should have this sometime tomorrow.
Well, I better be going. It is late and I am beat. Take care and thank you all for your prayers, thought and concerns. We greatly appreciate it and we hope to see you all in the near future to personally THANK YOU - - - Ski's
