Good Evening - - -
Well, like I was saying in a previous message that "No News is Good News" could
be true depending on how you look at it. Let me explain - - -
Yesterday, Thursday morning, the doctor came in and told the nurses to start prepping Kay for discharge. He also told them to place Kay on a regular diet. This was just before lunch and the word did not get to the kitchen in time so Kay had her regular
Potato Soup, Jell-o, Pudding and Milk lunch. This was around noon.
The kitchen not wanting to get into trouble figured that Kay needed solid food so they sent up a tray around 2 PM. Kay was not really hungry, but then it did look good for it was not soup so she did try and eat a little bit of it. When I got to the hospital, the nurse decided to give Kay a sponge bath so I Ieft taking home things that had to be removed from the room. I went back later and she was eating again around 5 PM. Still not real hungry but then it did look better than the soup. After eating the nurses came in to help Kay get ready to be discharged from the hospital. This happened around 7 PM. I was not all that happy with the hospital discharging her just putting Kay on solid food but then
what do I know.
Got her home and comfortable and it was not to much longer when we received a phone call from Home Health Care to interview Kay. This was to set up a time schedule for them to come in to change the Wound Pump Bandage and to set up Physical Therapy. While the PT was interviewing Kay I went to the back of the house and I heard a gurgling noise. I went outside and checked the hot water heater and it was spraying water all over the place. Naturally it had to be around 9:15 with all the hardware stores closed. More bad luck. Anyway, I did get the water shut off to the house but was able to keep the water on at the outside hose connections. This helped for I was able to fill buckets to fill the toilet tank and flush the toilets. Also, I did not have to worry about getting shot stealing water from the neighbors. Went to bed thinking tomorrow has to be a better day. Also, earlier in the day I dropped my cell phone and cracked
the glass. The phone works but - - - what else could go wrong.
Last night before going to bed I did call Chris, youngest son that has his own plumbing business, in the Austin area, and he told me he was planning on coming down on Friday. He did not call or warn us for he knew we would try and talk him out of coming down. I did try to talk him out of coming but it was to no avail. He gave me marching orders on what to get to replace the water heater and once he got her we had it hooked up and heating water in 45 minutes. It would of probable been faster if I wasn't there helping him. Anyway, we do have hot water and flushing toilets. Kay started the day slow but she did seam to perk later in the day. Home Health Care did make it out around 2 to change the bandage and after that she sat in the chair the rest of the day and evening. She did eat a little tonight but as far as I am concerned not enough. She is walking more by herself with the help of a cane. I do believe that this is for balance if nothing else.
Overall, today for Kay was a good day - - -
Well, I better be going. Take care and have a great night. Hopefully tomorrow will be better for Kay and she will get a little bit more of her strength back. Till later - - - Ski's
