Good Evening - - -Don't be alarmed if you did not get an up-date last night. I did not forget you
or delete you from my address book. I just did not send one out. Rememberthe old saying "No news is good news". At least it is not getting any worse. Yesterday Kay did a lot of sitting around and just chewing the fat with everyone and anyone that called or went up to see her. She is doing a lot better but she still gets tired and does need the "Happy Shot" to make her comfortable. If she
does get the "Happy Shot" it does make her drowsy and she might go to sleepon you. Don't be offended by this. It is just the medication. Of course there could be some that she might being doing this deliberately. Overall she had a
pretty good day yesterday. Today she saw the Wound Care Nurse and she was not happy with them. Alsoher "Happy Shot" did not or was not working as they were changing the dressing. After it was all said and done she asked the Wound Care Nurse (WCN) if she was a trying to set a record on how many claw marks their patients could put on the
ceiling from the pain. I do not think they thought it was all that funny. The WCN did tell Kay that she would be taking the pump home with her. It would be smaller and more portable. It does have a battery in it and it will last for 2 hours so she will have some freedom to move around. The WCN will also set up a Home
Care Nurse to come in on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to check and changethe bandage. Great, more marks on the walls or ceiling from removing the sponge. The WCN did tell Kay she be packing that thing around for 6 weeks to 6 months.
Again, not a happy camper to say the least.Later the doctor came in and looked Kay over and told her they could start preparing her for discharge. BULL - Keep her there. I do not think she is ready and it is going to impossible to sit on her keeping her down if she comes home. The doctor did say it would be up to the surgeon to make the final decision on this. I do believe that it will be a few more days for she is still on a soft foods diet and she should be eating solids before she is discharged. She was walking this afternoon and she was proud
of that and even being allowed to do that.Later in the day she had a sponge bath and she said she felt like a million. Even one of the nurses came in and said she looked a lot better tonight. When I got there she had finished eating and was sitting in the chair. After awhile she started getting tired and relocated to the bed. We talked a little bit longer and it was time for me to leave
for visiting hours were over.Well, that's about it for today. I do want to thank everyone for the cards and kind works and prayers. Hopefully once this over Kay will be able to write you a quick note or two. Bear with her for there are quite a few notes that she is going to have to write. Don't
be surprised if she calls you for that is so much better. Take care and have a great week - - - Ski's
