Good Evening - - -I guess the best thing I can say is no news is good news. Nothing has really changed since last night. When I went back last night the surgeon had not made it in as of yet but a doctor did see Kay. There for awhile the seepage had stopped and we were hoping for the best. While I was there the nurse came in and was hooking up another IV bag of antibiotics and told us this for the pneumonia that was in Kay's lower lung. Great that is all we need not. She was doing real good on the pain all day long and finally it was getting to her so the nurse gave her a pain shot. This was making her drowsy so I left. Normally, after one of her happy pills she would go to sleep for about an hour or so. It was a good time to leave. Later that night the seepage started again and it was pretty bad. The nurses dressed the incision and took note of what was happening. When I went back this morning the doctor came in and examined Kay. Looking at the wound the seepage had stopped and the inflammation and incision was looking better. The redness was fading and the skin was looking better. Talking to the doctor he told us the surgeon would have to look at it and decide what to do. He felt that they would make an incision and remove the abscess. I asked the doctor about the lung and pneumonia he just kind of cringed. He told us that it was not pneumonia and that it was just some fluids on the lungs. This was being caused but Kay laying so much and not taking deep breaths. I asked him if I need to bring her breathing machine to her and he did not say yes and he did not say no. I do think I will wait on that. Earlier today the nurse did give her some ice chips to chew on. The doctor did tell us that the staples would be in a little longer and to cancel the appointment with our GP to remove the staples. IF Kay did require surgery there was also a possibility that the surgeon would remove a few of the lower staples and make a small incision to remove the abscess. The hospital would also possible remove every other staple when Kay left to stop any possible tearing the incision open. The doctor also gave us the impression that Kay would be in the hospital for four days. I think a lot of this will depend on the surgeon
once he sees Kay if he ever does.I left around 3 hoping that as soon as I went out the door the surgeon would come it and check on Kay but this was not to be the case. Someone did come in and take pictures of Kay's incision and sent them to the surgeon. While I was gone the surgeon was on the floor, ICU, and was checking patients and the nurse was hoping that he would of made it to see Kay but he was called back to the OR for and emergency. I did ask the nurse about getting something for Kay to eat for she has not eaten since Saturday night. She did not eat breakfast Sunday morning for this is when all H----- broke loose. She told me that surgeon had to check her first. You could see where she did not want to tell me this but there was nothing she could do in case they did need to operate. We did get the impression with the way the incision was looking there was a possibility that the surgery would not
be needed for the antibiotics were working. Here's hoping ! ! ! ! !At 6 tonight security came in and told me I had to leave for visiting hours are over. I am planning on going back and giving Kay her phone. This is in case she needs to contact me for there isn't a phone in her room. Please do not call her just yet. If you need info please call me at 956.781.8453. Better go for now for it is almost 8 PM
for visiting hours. Be back later - - - - I'm Back - - -I went back up and Kay was resting comfortably if that is possible in a hospital. The pain is decreasing and I think this could be because she is discharging the abscess or her laying down on her back. Anyway, she is doing better. The nurse did look at the incision and she does not think that Kay will need the surgery. Of course this will be up to the surgeon. We are still waiting for Kay to be checked out by him/her. The nurse did not think that the surgeon would do the surgery tonight and I told her I did not want them to. After 10 to 12 hours of surgery they
would have to be tired and I sure did not want them whacking on Kay then.I do not know when they are going to move Kay into a room. We are waiting for the surgeon for that decision. I was fussing at the nurse tonight about Kay not eating since Saturday night and she did check with the floor doctor she gave Kay some Jell-o. Hopefully, we will see the surgeon tomorrow and make some sort of decision on what
he is going to do with Kay.That is about all the information I have right now so I guess I will sign off. Take care - - - Ski's
