Good Evening - - -I do believe that Kay is trying to act like a "Rock Star". How many times do you hear "FINAL TOUR" so that the stars can get Sell Out crowds to retire on only to come came two to three years later as a
reunion tour. Kay is doing the same thing.Earlier this morning after she took her shower, she hollered at me to help her. She thought her foley had came loose and she needed help with it. WRONG! What was happening was that she was getting seepage from her incision. This was coming out at a fairly fast rate and there were spots or clumps in the bottom of the shower that was red. It gave you the impression of loose jell-o. Anyway she got on the stool and there was no stopping the flow. We got some paper towels on it and got Kay bad into bed. I called MD Anderson around 10 and then again at 11 this morning and finally got a call back from the on call urologist on duty. The doctor told that this is normal for some seepage but since the incision area was
red that I should take her to the hospital. She was there by noon. When I arrived at Rio Grande Hospital I asked for a wheel chair, got her into it, and in the waiting area. The nurse took us right back and started taking vitals. Her blood pressure was 70 over 40. Temperature was 98.7 which was not all that far from checking it her at home at 99.8. As soon as the nurse saw the blood pressure reading she requested a bed right away. It was not over a couple of minutes that the hospital had Kay in the
back prep her for IV's and more test. The test consisted of chest x-ray, EKG, blood draw, and urine sample. The nurse had a bad time starting the IV and the second time he never succeeded with Kay in a lot of pain. Another nurse got the IV in but this was
in the crease of the elbow. They did start her on antibiotics and an IV.On the way to ICU the nurse took the pad off that Kay was wearing and there was very little seepage. I was surprised for earlier the seepage would go through the pads in nothing flat. I do not know if this was do to her laying flat on her bad or the if there was just a build up and it needed to escape. Anyway, the drainage has literally
stopped.Visiting hours were over at 6 PM and will start at 8 PM for those wanting to spend the night. I am going to try and make it back just to see how she is doing. I need to change for when we left this morning it was nice out and this evening a front came through and it was down right cold in sandals and shorts. The ER doctor was telling me that they were going to stabilize her and the send her by secure means, like she is classified message, back to Houston to MD Anderson. Later I asked what a secure means was and this was by ambulance. Come on, all the way to Houston. What we need to do is wait and see what the doctors want to do with her here. The doctors at MDA told me that this could happen and she would not have to come back to Houston. The doctors here could make another incision next to the original one and clean out the wound. We are hoping now that most of the infection has been discharged and with a some antibiotics will clear everything up. Well, that is it for now. Hopefully after this trip it will be her final tour or goodbye to hospitals. I know she is not all that happy being there. Yesterday she was outside walking around in the garage and driveway. She talked about going around the block but I did put my foot down on that. I just felt it was to much for her. She is doing good at eating and I am sure that is helping. She is not eating a lot, but she is eating. We do have to much food around the house right now and running out of freezer space. I think we have enough food prepared for the next week. Thank you all that you have done but please slow down or reduce your amount you are bringing over here. Well, I better be going. Take care and if you have any questions please feel free to call me at 956.781.8453. I am keeping Kay's phone to at least when she gets into a room. Take care and THANK YOU ALL for your Prayers, Kind
