Good Evening One & All for the
Cold Texas Valley - - - - -
Yes it is cold here ! ! ! We
should have stayed in Houston for I do not think it was all
that bad compared to right now. Of course we did have the
furnace off when we left and the house isn’t exactly warm.
Thank goodness our sweet neighbor did come over and turn on
the heat while we were in route home.
Early this morning the doctor
came in and removed the tube from the stomach and told Kay she
was ready to go home. This was like at 6 this morning and
naturally Kay had the nerve to call me and get me out of a
nice warm bed. It was also cold in Houston. Anyway, after
telling the good news I finished rounding things up and took a
load to the van. I did make two trips last night. After the
first trip, I went and ate breakfast, and then went for my
second and final trip. Got everything in the van and went back
to check out.
I did talk to the front desk
last night and warned them that I could be leaving the next
day or might even need a late checkout. No problem – very,
very obliging. I did check out around 8:00 and drove to the
hospital. I was afraid of taking the shuttle for the bus
(Shuttle) rides rough and I could just see Kay having all
sorts of problems getting back to the hotel.
We were able to leave the
hospital at noon and starting driving to the Valley. We got
about an hour down the road and I pulled over to let Kay walk
around the van. She wanted to drive on another few miles to
Presek’s. This is where we will normally stop coming and going
to Houston. After a very slow walk to the restroom through the
store all h--- broke loose with Kay.
She got into the women’s
restroom and found out the drainage bag was leaking. One of
the janitorial ladies got her some paper towels and after
clearing the restroom out had me go in there to try and help
her. NO PROBLEM – I saw the training film and the nurse do
this so I knew I could. Anyway, the cleaning ladies closed of
the bathroom while I was trying to help her and got her out in
the area by the restrooms. Kay got weak and I think everyone
around was worried about her falling and suing. We got Kay a
chair and I went back out to the van to get another bag kit.
The family restroom finally opened and we got Kay in there for
a bag change. No problem, I could do it and did it. It is
still holding tight.
The manager was very helpful
and concerned about Kay condition. She was telling Kay and me
not to worry about it for her husband in the last 6 months had
his colon removed. She also told me to drive the van to the
back emergency door so Kay would not have to walk so far do to
her being weak. After getting her in the van we were able to
leave until the next stop. This was north of Corpus Christa
and she did real well from there on. Of course she took a
“Happy Pill” and nothing bothered her, even my driving! ! !
After one more stop we made it
home to a fairly cool house. It is starting to warm up and
getting comfortable. I got the van unloaded, did a load of
cloths, and pretty well put everything away. I still have a
lot of paper work to sort through that I did not have time to
do in Houston. I guess I can start that tomorrow.
Well, I better be going. Take
care and thank you all for your thoughts, kind words and
prayers. We both greatly appreciate them. Hopefully Kay will
be up to contacting some of you tomorrow. Have a great night -
