Good Evening - - - -
We, Chris, Dawn and I, just left the hospital and everything
seems to be going great.
When we got there this morning around 9 AM the doctor had
already been in and
removed the tube going through her nose to the stomach. She
is talking better now
that the tube has been removed.
Later this afternoon we went back and she was doing OK.
While we were there the
nurse had her walking and then sitting in a chair. She did
not set any speed records
but she did walk about 50 to 60 feet. After Kay's walk we
went to the cafeteria for
something to eat.
After dinner we went back to the room and the doctor was
there. She was going to
try and disconnect the oxygen tube so that she could sleep
better tonight. I she does
not take deeper breaths or shallow breaths the machine goes
off with a loud beep.
Not good for trying to sleep.
Also, the doctor was going to try and disconnect some more of
the tubes tomorrow. She
did want Kay to walk again later that night and to do more
breathing exercises. The
doctor gave us the impression that Kay could be released
maybe Monday. We do not
know for sure and at what time but if everything goes OK
there is that possibility. We
do not know when she would be released for it could anytime
during the day. There was
one gentleman that was still waiting to be released at 7:30
PM. We will more that likely
spent the night she is released here in Houston.
Another thing the doctor brought to our attention is that Kay
will have to eat 6 small meals
a day instead of the normal 3 large meals a day. If nothing
else, she recommended that
she take a shake of some sort during the time between
meals. This is to train the bowels
to start functioning again since they were so rudely
disrupted.
That is about all I can add tonight. I did keep her phone
today for there was no way that
she could of used it. I am hoping that she will be better
tomorrow and I can leave the
phone with her. Sorry about that but I was hoping for the
best today where she could
talk to you guys. She did talk to a few people today but
that did tire her after she was
done with the call. Even though it tired her it did brighten
up her face with the call.
It is cold here and they are talking about sheet and really
bad roads for driving tomorrow
morning. I am glad that I am using the bus to take us back
and forth to the hospital.
Well that about all I can write about right now. If you have
any questions please feel free to
contact me. You can reach me at 956.781.8453.
Take care and have a great night - - - Ski's
