Subject: Lila update---2/25/2011 In my last report, Lila had been very sick, got to feeling better and came home last Sunday afternoon. On Monday she still did not feel well. She was scheduled for a blood test and review in the morning and a spinal tap at 1:00. As she had received two blood test at the hospital Sunday before they released her, she did not feel the need for another blood test. We showed at the hospital at 1:00, signed in and waited and waited. When they called us into the room for the test, the said that as she did not show up for the blood test this morning, everything was cancelled. We finally got out of the hospital about 4:30. Tuesday, still did not feel well. Wednesday, another blood test, review, doctor visit and a 5:30 appointment for a short round of chemo. Lila got up, getting ready to go to the hospital, started to have strong stomach cramps, threw up and almost passed out again. She lay in the bathroom floor until she recovered and lay on the bed for a short time. She felt enough better that she made the blood draw, the review and doctor appointment, but still did not feel well. At 5:30 we went back to the hospital for the chemo, was concerned because she still did not feel well and they were going to give her some more poison. The treatment took about 30 minutes. She came out of the treatment feeling good. Go figure???? We stopped for bar-b-q on the way home. On Friday she had the usual blood test, review and doctor appointment. Good news!!!! She is in remission!!!! They are trying to get things together for the stem cell transplant somewhere around March 11 or 12. If the plan holds, she will be in the hospital for 21 to 30 days following the transplant. Then for the next two months or so, we will stay close to Houston so that she can go the hospital every day or so for checkups. We are going to need some help while Lila is confined to the hospital. The hospital folks thinks it is best if someone stayes with Lila 24/7 while she is going through the process. It does not appear that we will have any time to go to Pharr as Lila had wanted. Later, Bob |
