This morning we were to be at the hospital at 7:15 for a blood test.  We had an appointment to see the doctor at 10:30 but was closer to 11:30 before we got to see the doctor.  Lila's red blood count was at 9.2.  When we left Pharr on Tuesday the blood count was 10.5.  The red blood cells had went down but not as fast as they had been last week.

After all the tests this week, M D Anderson Hospital confirmed what the McAllen Hospital told us.  Lila has ALL, one of the worse kinds of the problem.

As I had expected, Lila elected to start treatment in Houston.   We will be here for at least the next 30 days, perhaps more.  They will be starting treatments tomorrow, (Saturday).  She will be in a isolation room, very limited visitation, even by me.  Everything that comes into her room has to be completely cleaned.  She is not allowed any live flowers, so please don't send any.  Cards would be nice or any e-mails I receive will be printed and taken to her.

It appears that the treatments here will be different than what they wanted to do in McAllen.  In McAllen they said that they would keep her in the hospital for 24 to 30 days with chemo everyday.   In Houston they will hit her with heavy doses for 3 or 4 days, check her blood levels, check for infections and perhaps they will let her come back to the RV for a few days before going back for treatments.  However, the McAllen Hospital said that the treatments would run for 4 or maybe 5 months.  In Houston they are talking about perhaps some treatments continuing for perhaps 8 months.

Lila has not decided if she will have all her treatments in Houston or just go through the first month or so and then have her treatments transferred to McAllen Hospital.

This is all that I have to report for now.

Nothing much happened today at the hospital.   We got to the hospital at a little after 7:00 AM, got checked in, did the insurance thing, delivered the medical records that we had from the Edenburg Hospial.  The hospital took more blood, took x-rays, we talked to the doctor and they did a bone marrow test.  Got everything done by 3:30 and we came back to the RV.  The doctor wants to talk to us sometime Friday but not sure he will have all the reports back by that time.  Would think that we will be here through the weekend just to get all the reports back.

On the good side, Lila is feeling fairly well, all things considered.  She was tired because of all the walking around the hospital.  M D Anderson Hospital as MASSIVE!!!!!

The trip up here was somewhat of an adventure.  It appears that the doctors have a hard time talking to their hired help.  The doctors told us things but forgot to tell the people they needed to tell to make things happen.  The blood doctor that was helping sitting the trip to Houston forgot to tell his secretary that we were to take Lila's medical records with us.  We had planned on leaving Pharr by 8:00 or 8:30 Tuesday morning.  At 6:00 Monday evening, someone calls and tells Lila about the records.  So, she went to the hospital when medical records opened at 8:30 Tuesday morning.  Of course, they were not ready because nobody told them to have them ready.  It took over 2 hours for Lila to get her records together.  We left Edenburg a little after 11:00 AM Tuesday.

We had not been contacted by anyone from M D Anderson, confirming Lila's appointment until early Tuesday morning.  Again, the doctor at M D Anderson forgot to tell his secretary that we were on our way.  We received a call early Tuesday morning, confirming our appointment.
