prayers and kind words of support that have been sent back. This family has seen
and knows the power of prayer.
Update on Greg.
Greg was moved from intermediate ICU yesterday to
room 609 at Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas.
On Sunday, October 3rd, when he first entered
the hospital they repaired his aorta valve and stitched up a laceration
across his knee with twenty-five stitches. The kneecap was not injured. He was
unconscious or in a twilight state from Sunday to Thursday when they operated on
his abdomen. The surgeon left his abdomen open with a sponge inserted for
absorption after cleaning the interior. After four days they removed the sponge
and sewed him up even though the spleen and liver had lacerations. Part of his
intestine was dead and had a hole that was sutured. The surgeon said all
that would heal itself. He also has a number of broken
ribs. His inter left thigh had a huge hole that had to
be repaired. They removed the infection and inserted a sponge that had
to be change twice, every other day. A skin graft will be done
tomorrow on the inter leg hole if all the infection is gone. Then, a great deal
of physical therapy will be needed as he was in bed for fourteen days and has
lost a lot of muscle and is now moving with the aid of a
walker.
He has come a long way and need the prayers to
keep coming for him and his family of a wife, three children and one grandchild.
A younger sister and brother who are very close in their relationship.
Thanks again for your
efforts.
