If you have looked at the "Special Events" portion of our Round Dance Web
page http://www.rgvrd.us/index.htm you know we are having a St.
Baldrick's head shaving event to raise money for childhood cancer
research next February 22, 2009 starting at 2:00 PM at Texas Trails RV
Resort. Also that all the proceeds from the Bernie and Red
Comedy/Musical Show also to be held at Texas Trails on February 4, 2009
will go to St. Baldricks.

This is just an advanced note to let you know how you can help make this
event a success.
1. Volunteer to be a shavee. So far only myself and Ski have committed
to do this. Maybe you can convenience someone to have their head shaved
for this worthy cause if you can't.

2. Donate money to support a shavee. Each shavee will have set a goal
to raise so much money. You can make your donation online or directly to
the person.

3. Volunteer to help with the event.

4. Help spread the word about the two events. Check the St. Baldricks
web page at http://www.stbaldricks.org/index.html# Our event will be
shown on this site later this fall along with those who will have
volunteered to be a shavee. Then people can start donating to support
the shavee's. They have raised $16,400,000 toward their 2008 goal of 17
million so far.

5. Support the auction by:
        a. Donating an item
        b. Buying tickets for the auction.
        c. Volunteering to help with the auction.
The auction will be conducted during the shaving event. Please be
considering what item you can contribute to the auction and bring it with
you when you return to the valley. The way the auction will work is
people will buy tickets and will put these tickets in a box by the item
they would like to have. A ticket will be drawn at the end of the
shaving event and the winner will get that item. We have been raising
over $2,000 with this type auction each year at my retirees meeting. If
you would like to volunteer to help with the auction please let me know.
Pat has a ball stuffing the boxes and usually wins something. She won a
$100 bill that someone had put in a picture frame and donated for the
auction. Another time she won a really nice coffee type table with the
outline of Texas on the top. If you plan to donate an item please let me
know.

4. Attend the Bernie and Red cancer benefit show.

Hope you are having a great summer and look forward to seeing you this
winter.

Wayne
