Our RD friends Harry & Iris Sprague's sent the following report to Bill
Cook. Iris and their daughter Mitzi are in China where Mitzi is getting
stem cell treatment for MS. Note the web site where they are posting a
journal to keep friends informed. What a great idea.

Bill thanks for asking. But they were 1,360 miles north east of the
center of the quake. They didn't even know it had happened as there is
not much news in English over there. I told them about it and they were
amazed that no one at the hospital had mentioned it. I talked to her this
morning and she said that finally one of the nurses that speak english
came around and told them and asked for a donation to help the needy at
the quake site. Mitzi is alread showing some improvement, not much but
some, with the treatments. She has had 2 treatments but after the first
one she was able to jump in place without falling down. Her left side of
the body is starting to have feelings which she hasn't had in 8 years.
After the second treatment which was Monday she is sore where they
injected her spine. If it is anything like the first one she will bounce
back in a day or so. My cardiologist told me that anytime you inject a
forgein body in to your body the body reacts to it trying to determine
what is going on so you have a hurting all over and chills and some
fever. She has to lie still for 6 hours after the treatment which is bad
since they are admistering an IV drip. So she has to get up and go to the
bathroom ofter during the 6 hours. But the nurse says it is alright just
get back in the bed as soon as possible.
They are having a time with shopping over there. Hard to find food that
they are accustom to. But the people in the ward where they are really
are helping out. They have made many new friends there and are have
parties often. The parties are cake and punch and a lot of conversation.
There is a web site that you can go to and see what Mitzi is writing
about her treatments there. The web site is caringbridge.com. It will
then ask you what web site you want to go to and just type in
mitzisprague and press enter. You can read all about the treatments and
what people are writing to her about.

Please be sure to pass this information to Wayne and Pat as I have their
e-mail on the computer that Iris has and not on this one. I talk to her
every day morning and evening on the SKYPE that I told you about. We can
talk as long as we want and it is free as long as it is computer to
computer. It is almost like being in the same room with her and holding a
conversation. I talked to Kay yesterday and told her all about the
treatments. So I hope she will keep y'all informed also.

Bye for now. And let me know how you are doing also.

Hugs to you and Mazel
Harry
