ValleyRD Mailing List: Bernie & Red to do Cancer Charity Show Feb 4, 2009

Great news!!  We went to the Bernie and Red comedy/musical show at Pharr South RV Park on January 6 and really enjoyed it.  We read in their program that they had been doing a cancer charity in Mesa.  Prior to the show Pat talked to them about the cancer charity show.  Then we emailed them asking that they do a cancer benefit show here next year. 

 

They emailed right back and said they would be glad to.  Today we visited via phone and worked out the details.  The show will be at Texas Trails RV Resort on February 4, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.   All the proceeds will go to the St. Baldricks organization and used for childhood cancer research.  If you wish to check this organization out please do so at www.stbaldricks.org .  Since most all the events they sponsor are done by volunteers nearly all the money raised goes out for cancer research.  

 

In addition to the Bernie and Red benefit show we will be having a head shaving event around the first of March of 2009.   See the web site to learn what that is all about.  If you want to participate in various ways including having your head shaved let us know. 

 

Also in the plan to have a silent auction and or raffle to help raise more money.  Many of you are skilled craftsmen and it would be great if you would donate an item for this.  If any of you have a contact that would be willing to donate a big prize like a Cruse, Car, Big Screen TV etc let us know.  That should raise a lot of money.

 

Too many of our immediate families and Round Dance Friends have been effected by cancer and this will be one way to fight back and honor those who have fought and are fighting this terrible disease.

PS:  We plan to go to Bernie and Red's show at the Mission Bell RV park at 7:00 PM on Feb 1, (Friday).  This will be their show #1.  If you wish to go you may get tickets at the Mission Bell park from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM Monday thru Friday.  I called and they still have tickets available.
