As some of you may know, Bob Reece and Lawrence Wright were the only original founding members of EAA 493 still with us.  Lawrence sent me the following story and picture.  He will be 92 this year.

"I started flying with Bob about 49 years ago.  We met up when flying
back from Oshkosh in 1981. This is a shot I took of him on our way
home.  It was probably over Missouri.   We stopped for fuel together.  He and Fritz Mayer and a couple of
others shared a fuel tank at my ranch strip and we all flew together on
weekends back in the 70's. Will miss him.  Share this with the chapter if I don't get it sent right."

Bob used to have ice cream socials at his airstrip (Reece Field 94TA) just inside the SE corner of SJT's Airspace.  It's still shows on current sectionals.  I attended one of the ice cream socials with Lawrence years ago.  It was a popular event with the local pilots.
