As always Don, an excellent interesting rendition of the meeting. I'm very sorry that I was unable to attend. Glad to see new members and especially glad to see past members return.

An excellent job Don! It is so nice to see so many people attending the meetings at the Mathis Field Terminal conference room. Thanks to all of the new officers who are trying diligently to support our EAA Chapter.

Attached and set out below are the proposed minutes for the April 17, 2018 EAA Ch 493 monthly meeting. Please let me know if there are any recommended changes.Don Smucker, Secretary.
EAA 493
Minutes of April 17, 2018 Monthly Meeting
The April 17, 2018 monthly meeting of EAA Chapter 493 was called to order by President Bob Reece at 7pm in the renovated conference room of the Terminal building, Mathis Field, San Angelo, Texas. 17 members, 1 new member and 1 guest were present. Upon voice vote, the Minutes of the March, 2018 meeting of the Chapter were approved as published on the Chapter Reflector. New member Philip Meredith from San Angelo joined the Chapter and was introduced by Bob Reece and welcomed into the membership. Philip is a CFI, A&P, and owns a Tripacer based at Ballinger. Mike Plecenik also rejoined Chapter 493. Treasurer Andy Spinks gave the Treasurer’s report (current balance of $1,737.73), which was approved by voice vote.
Old business. VP Ron Lentz reported on interest and contacts from the public at the EAA Ch 493 table set up at the Collings Foundation/American Heritage Museum sponsored Wings Of Freedom Tour at Skyline Aviation held at Mathis Field on April 2-4. Ron and Andy Spinks manned the table. Ron asked that the new contacts be added to the EAA Ch 493 Reflector. In passing it was noted that several members were having difficulty receiving Reflector notifications. Don Smucker agreed to test the system and work with those members to make sure they were receiving notifications and emails properly.
The first New Business item was reported by President Bob Reece. Bob reported that he was contacted by the Fredericksburg EAA chapter. They had scheduled a Young Eagles flying session that was rained out, and wanted to know if/when our chapter would be holding our next Young Eagles program and if we would notify them in advance so they could send interested kids to our chapter for the next flying activity. We do not have any Young Eagles programs currently scheduled. Bob passed the contact information and notes from the Fredericksburg Chapter call to Don Treadwell, our Chapter’s Young Eagles coordinator.
The next new business was from Bob Reece. Bob mentioned that a Fredericksburg pilot purchased a flight simulator and paced it at the Fredericksburg airport. She is making the simulator available to anyone wanting simulator time, at $40 per hour. If interested, contact Gwen Holbrook, 830-456-2623. (Skyline also has a large Redbird flight simulator available for rent/use).
The next item was also from Bob Reece, who reported that instrument rated and CFI new member Philip Meredith informed him that the EAA website now has free instrument training videos, training instrument condition scenarios and related blogs and training materials, under the name of the IMC Club. EAA members (and the public at large) can access that free information at www.EAA.org/imc. Bob also mentioned that the May program will be a speaker from the FAA Lubbock office.
There being no further business on motion made, seconded and passed by voice vote, the business portion of the meeting was adjourned. Vice President Ron Lentz introduced (not that he needed any introduction!) Pat Nuytten, who presented a very informative program on the new FAA Basic Med replacement for 3rd class medicals for most private pilots flying non-commercial applications. For more information, check out FAA Advisory Circular AC 68-1A, or go to www.FAA.gov/GO/BasicMed (this website also has a downloadable .pdf version of AC 68-1A). After the program, the meeting was adjourned for social time, with refreshments provided by Treasurer Andy Spinks.
