Yes. I flew alongside a British squadron in Germany (RAF Bruggen No. IX Sqn) who had "Bring back the Lightning" stickers all over the place. Squadron had recently (at that time, 70's) changed over to Phantoms and the old heads wanted their over and under centerline thrust single seaters back. 

Hugely saddened by George's passing--a good man.
