Good Morning Alamo Friends,
First, I am sorry to hear of your heart attack Clara.  Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Update on my mom, Helen Faber:
We got to Alamo on Nov. 13th and on November 14th,mom had a heart attack.  She had a pacemaker inserted which has helped.  She did not qualify for rehab services as she was too weak.  She currently is in the nursing home, The Heights of Alamo.  She is getting excellent care and it is a beautiful facility.  She has made some strides in improvement but has a long way to go before she can come back to Alamo Paradise.  The really hard part is she feels she is in a foreign country and almost all the residents and staff speak Spanish.  On top of that, we have had a hard time getting her phone to work.  I've been to Verizon and it seems to work outside of the facility but not inside.  She feels very isolated and going to the dining hall is very depressing to her.  If at all possible for any of you to visit her she would love it.  She is pretty free after 10:30 in the morning.  If not able to visit maybe you could drop her a card.

eMail from Alamo Paradise Acres reflector.

To All Of My Friends in Alamo Paradise Acres.  I want to wish everyone a late Happy Thanksgiving.

My Thanksgiving Day wasn’t so Happy, Wed. night, Nov. 22nd. I was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.  About 8:00 pm. I had a

very hard time breathing, & about 9:00, my Daughter & Granddaughter called the ambulance, because I could hardly get my breath. I was rushed

to the Hospital, they got me in and started checking out what was going on, put a breathing mask on me, to help me be able to start breathing again.

They said that mask would get me to breathing again, which it did. But it took a couple of hours and I finally felt like I was going to live.

I have never been through anything like that, I thought I wasn’t going to make it.

So I finally got up to my room about 4:00 am.  On Thanksgiving Day, they started running test on me.  The Cardiogist came in and told me what test they

Were going to do.  On Friday he came in with the results of the test. He said, I had a Heart attack, brought on because my blood pressure was to high.

So they more tests to run, trying to find out what caused my high blood pressure. Sat. morning they done one test, but didn’t have time to do one more

They wanted done. So I got out of the Hospital around 4:00 pm. Sat. November 25th.  Monday morning, I have to call and schedule the test they did not

Get down, then after they get the results of that, I will have to see the Cardiogist for the result.  It sure fells great to be able to breathe again.  I”m staying

with my Daughter for a couple of days, trying to get used the medication they have me on.

I will keep you posted, after I get the rest of my tests done, and hopefully find out what caused my blood pressure to be high.

We got 3 inches of snow here last night, which I really didn’t want to see any snow, until I left for Texas.

Again, a late Happy Thanksgiving to all my Alamo Par. Friends, and enjoy that nice warm weather.

Love you all and miss you.

Clara
