You're right - it brought tears and with the memories invoked by the
Trooper's stories. At the Niles Cafe I gave them a $20.00 bill and that
each time one of the homeless guys came in for a cup or food his bill would
be deducted from the $20.00. Heavy warm blankets I gave to two long
time Niles homeless. A lady I stopped on Mission Blvd. for speeding and
intoxication. She was crying hysterically when I walked up to her door.
She had just found a neighbor lady in bed with her attorney husband.
I drove her to the Motel at Mission and Warm Springs Blvd. and handed
her car keys to the motel manager for the next 8 hours/until she sobered
up. I had recently experienced that same happening when my wife was in
bed with a 18 or 19 year old neighbor boy. One day in Mission San Jose area
I young man hung himself in a tree just outside the front door of his girl
friends home. I grabbed both of his legs and lifted him to take the pressure
of the rope around his neck until a cover unit got there. The cover climbed
the tree and cut the rope. the cover gave him CPR and the young man
recovered. I did a committed him. We all have tons of stories don't we Rich.
This just about says it all, brought tears to my eyes this Christmas.
